You Are Born To Be Free

You Are Born To Be Free

By John Livingston Clark

I sadly see many people aimlessly wondering about with no purpose in life. This is evident by the way they use their time and the activities in which they are engaged. Some are trapped in a cage of addiction and bondage and see no way out. Many individuals have no hope, therefore, they see no reason to pursue anything better. It is an endless cycle of being on life’s merry-go-round where people are crying out, “Stop the world. I want to get off!”

When people have a new heart given by God, upon accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, there is a new spirit of endeavor to move forward with passion and purpose. The merry-go-round will stop. Life takes on a new meaning. One begins to see creation as a wonder and a marvel of God. They begin to see themselves as a special creation designed by God to glorify Him and to pursue God-given dreams. God gives them the heart and mind to soar to new heights like birds, to forge ahead like mighty rivers charting their courses, and to glorify Him like majestic mountains.

This is expressed in my first published poem, “Creation Sings,” included in a compilation of works by poets across the United States and Canada. This collection of poetry entitled, “This Time Around: Setting Sail,” is available on Amazon.

“Roaring rivers, mighty mountains,
Soaring birds, all are singing.
Songs of freedom, pushing onward.
Rising higher, each one ringing.

Ringing out their merry song,
To be whatever they will be.
The song of freedom to go forth,
Shouting out to you and me.

‘Liberty for one and all,
Be an eagle, fly above.
Forge your river, climb your mountain,
Seek your dream and seek your love.

Be all that you’re designed to be,
Like nature’s joyful praise.
Like rivers, birds, and mighty mountains,
Songs of freedom raise.’

All creation cries aloud,
To forge ahead and fly.
Then whatever you can do,
It will not be denied.

Be yourself and soar to heights
You’ve never seen before.
Echoing the songs of freedom,
Like a river’s rushing roar.”

I hope my poem has been an inspiration to you. Now go soar like an eagle, climb your personal mountain, and forge the path of your river, all to the glory of God. And if you have not yet done so, call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He will give you the power and the passion to live in freedom. This is my prayer for you.
