Our Hope: The Splendor of Him

With merely a wave of His mighty hand, He paints the sky in glorious colors, as the sun goes down and as it comes up.  He whispers to the rose, and she blooms with beauty and grace.  He rolls the rivers slowly across the hillsides and farmlands, to water the land and the wildlife, and to bring a sense of peace to the observer.  He speaks to the birds, and they sing His song.  He breathes life as a baby is born, and its wonder is magnificent to behold.

This, my friend, is our God.  Jehovah (LORD), the only true name for God, El-Shaddai (God Almighty),  Yahweh-Jireh (The Lord Will Provide).  Yes, He bears many names, but truly no name can truly describe all He is, all He does, because He is indescribable.  I once heard a speaker say that every time he tries to describe Him, he knows he is not doing Him justice.  It all is inadequate.  He is worthy of so much more.

Just walk outside, any time of day or night, and you will see His glory.  We are surrounded by it, and we are all touched by it.  One morning, I sat by my french doors writing a devotional, and I suddenly realized while my house was quiet the world outside was not.  I could hear birds singing, and the softly blowing wind.  I could also hear a train in the distance, and the hum of automobiles.  I realized that God’s creation touches all things, inside and outside, morning and evening, and there is a whole world that He by His mighty hand, controls and cares for everyday, every moment.

All of this makes me think about hope.  Real, faith-requiring hope.  In all the splendor that He creates, in all the splendor that He Himself is, there is still human life,  filled with joys and sorrows, and hardships we suffer.  But because He is splendor itself, and because He does love each of us more than we can imagine, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to bring that hope we so desperately need.  He offers grace without restraint when we sin, mercy when we are wounded in spirit, protection when we fear, and love that covers everything else.  He tells us to come to Him, He will give us rest.  He is LORD.

Are you hurting today? Is there disappointment in your life?  Are wandering with no purpose?  Come and meet Our Hope, and find all that eludes you in your life.  Find living water, that never stops refreshing.  Find peace, that is always waiting to comfort our souls.  Only our God brings these things to us.  We need only accept His love, admit we need a Savior, and ask Him into our hearts.  He is Our Hope, His names are many, but His love is one of a kind, forever and always.  Come, and bask in the splendor of Him!

‘My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken…Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him… My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.’  Psalm 62: 1-2, 5, 7 (NIV)

Blessings!
