Who Do I Think I Am?

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. (Matthew 7:1-2)

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)

“Enter by the narrow gait; for wide is the gait and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there many who go in by it. (Matthew 7:13)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)

Who Do I Think I Am

Who do I think I am!
After all, I’m just a fallen man.
Who do I think I am!
How did I ever come to think I know or I can?
I was just trying join the fight.
I was just trying to get it right to write.

A strong man I know I’m not.
I know how weak I am.
But, I was joined in His union enjoying His communion.
I was given His strength for the Spiritual fight.
The Author of no confusion,
He was making me right to write.

But still in awe I wonder, who do I think I am!
Am I not still this fallen man?
He has shown me who I am.
Nothing good is in man, nothing that says I know or I can.
Christ then asked me as a man…Who do you say “I Am”?
I said…You alone have eternal life and nothing less than!

I was standing firm,
With my belt tightly buckled.
My breastplate was in place,
And my feet were tightly fitted.
I thought I was ready to be poured out!
I had taken up my shield,
And with me my cross I carried.
With my helmet and sword,
I thought I was well-armed with His Word to go out!

Faith I knew was the battleground.
But for truth, I knew most were just fans.
Most are filled with pride, their own idolatrous shrine.
Shrinking back from the fight we find,
There are no fans on the front-lines.
This test of faith for most is but a fright!

Just as Christ said they would, from the faith many have fallen.
It is hard to find a sheep pen to take a stand in.
I thought the greatest battle of the end of this age,
For few anymore are watching and enduring to pray,
Was to find fellow sheep where the battle was being waged.
Few it seems will become His ambassador in chains!

But still I wonder, who do I think I am!
Who am I to tell them they are building on sand?
To many a battle I’ve been, eager to fight against sin.
I could not find a single battle that I could win.
After returning rejected, dumbfounded, and defeated,
I found out who I am in this God’s perfect plan…

I am the battleground!

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: (Matthew 7:24)

“But everyone who hears these sayings of mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: (Matthew 7:26)

Before we can rightly relate to our fellow man and enter his battleground, we must first make sure we are rightly relating to God ourselves and realize first…The war against sin must be fought and won on our own battleground. Otherwise, we are no more than Hypocrites!

Who do you think you are? Are you the battleground?
