Crying For Your Nation (Chinese/English)

 1 Samuel 15

11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.

 Crying For Your Nation
Saul had been commanded to destroy Amalek, because of what that sinful people did to the children of Israel when they were coming out of Egypt. God saw what had happened and now it was time for payback.

In verse 9, Saul and the people, had not carried out the specific commands of the Lord. Saul had given the Lord… partial obedience, which in reality is disobedience.

Later on, in the book of Esther, the Jews faced extinction through the exploits of Haman, who was a direct descendant of Amalek. How often when we do not deal with sin in our lives does it come back to haunt us?

God was pretty angry at Saul’s sin and told Samuel-it made God really sad that He had made Him king-remember that the people kept asking for a king and the Lord agreed to their wishes. So be careful what you wish for. God had not made a mistake in placing Saul on the throne of Israel, the actions of Saul had made God very sad. Just imagine if he had totally obeyed the Lord.

What I want to focus on is Samuel’s reaction. Saul had caused God great sorrow, because of his disobedience… but look what it did to Samuel.

Samuel’s heart was so grieved and greatly moved by the words of God and by the disobedience of Saul, that he cried all night to God. I wonder how often we do that?. Does what goes on in our countries make us cry to God all night?

We watch the TV news and see the bills passed to promote all kinds of evil. Doesn’t it ever move us? Frankly church… the only thing it makes us do, is to move our mouths and say… “Isn’t it terrible, that these things are happening?”

Isaiah the prophet says these words in chapter 1

7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

Your country is desolate church, and it is happening on your watch, you are watching whilst your land goes down the drain.

Numbers 25 tells the story of Phinehas the Priest, who dealt with the sin in the camp. Drastic you might think?

Well look at what God says in verse 11

11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

Samuel didn’t just pray, he also confronted Saul and then he dealt with Agag… I always thought he was quite old… but when he saw Agag… he saw sin and evil and reacted like any believer does when he/she is faced with sin, they go all out to kill it, before it kills them.

Too many churches and pastors are treading on egg shells today. Like the Corinthian church had, maybe they are major donors to the church, and God forbid.. we don’t want to lose their money… do we? The church at Corinth didn’t want to deal with it. Paul did… you can be sure God will also. Too many pastors are running scared nowadays… it’s time to speak out in loving rebuke.

It is time church to stop crying at the door and to start to get on our knees in repentance and to confront and deal with sin in our own camp. Only when the church is right itself before God, can blessing and revival come.

Samuel and Phinehas were zealous for the sake of the Lord in the midst of the people. Are you prepared to do the same and be zealous for your God and cry out in prayer like Samuel, then take action like they both did to confront and deal with Sin?

Are you prepared to cry out in prayer all night to God for your nation, like Samuel did?

Judgement Starts In The House Of God

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God bless you

  1. There are three main things God wants from us: obedience, faith, and holiness. He wants us to obey what he says to do, to the exact detail. God has given specific instructions throughout the entire Bible concerning many things. They are not go be taken lightly.

  2. God wants our love, devotion, and obedience – and to trust Him always.
    Nice job Keith.
    God Bless~
