Is Your Christian Life Boring Or Exciting?

I have a sister who said, “Nothing is boring with God.” I got to thinking about that statement.  What makes a Christian life boring? What makes it exciting? Let’s begin by answering the first question. Something that is boring usually means there is nothing to do, it is a continual routine over and over, or there is nothing exciting happening. To make a spiritual application, it could mean that a person doesn’t see God doing anything in or with their life. If a Christian only goes to church once a week, but doesn’t even read their Bible, they probably have a boring religious experience, and research shows that many Christians don’t even consistently read the Bible. If that is true, for these people their Christianity is nothing more than a weekly activity.

So, what can bring excitement into the Christian life by seeing God work? Here are a series of questions to ponder:

• Are you taking steps of faith?
• Are you seeing God work in your relationships and marriage to build more godly character?
• Are you getting fresh insights from Bible reading?
• Are you seeing answers to prayer?
• Through God‘s grace and personal spiritual disciplines are you seeing deliverance from bad habits, addictions, or ungodly obsessions and passions?
• Do you know what your spiritual gift is and are you using it for God‘s glory and purpose?
• Are you sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and hearing him “speak” to you?
• Are you seeing breakthroughs in negative or destructive situations?

The Christian life is exciting when you have a divine vision and mission for your life. You have a focus related to building God’s kingdom. People are being drawn to the saving grace of Christ through your life and ministry. You are seeing God open doors for ministry and dreaming God-size dreams, which only God can make happen. You have divine encounters and confirmations for what God would have you do.

Here are a couple of Bible verses that you can take to heart:

”Remember not the former things nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing, now it brings forth. Do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”(Isaiah 43:18-29).

”Now to God who is able to do an exceedingly  abundantly more than we even ask or think, according to the power that works within us”(Ephesians 3:20).
