In a Fox News broadcast on December 24, 2025, an interview revealed that generation Z and the Millennials are looking for more than what the current culture has to offer. These are the age groups from 27 to 44. Church attendance is booming along with Bible sales. They have lost hope in social media. They are looking for something bigger than themselves to combat loneliness and mental health issues. The words, “nothingness,” and “eternal principles,” were mentioned. The interview also mentioned that this age group is looking for the basic answers to life: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going after this life?
It is no wonder that the most popular verse in the Bible app for 2025 was Isaiah 41:10. “ Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” The younger generation wants hope and stability.
Getting the answers these generations are looking for will, however, not necessarily be found in attending a church(depending upon the type of church they are attending, because some churches are going woke), or are teaching things other than the gospel. The answers will only be found in a relationship with Jesus and reading the Bible. These two things will result in hope, peace, a presence overcoming loneliness, and stability in the midst of a culture that lacks all of these.
The Bible is full of “eternal principles” that have lasted throughout all the generations and centuries of humanity. The Bible will provide the answers to the three basic questions of life. However, we must not wait until our adult children reach the ages of 29 to 44.
We of the older generation have a responsibility for the spiritual nurture of the next generation, that they “might know… the children yet to be born, and arise and tell their children to put their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments”(Psalm 78:6-7).
How do we do this? It all begins in the family. Are there great things that God has done in you or your family that should be told to your children and grandchildren? Are you as a family reading the Bible together? According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2023 suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34!
So, having a purpose for living, peace and hope, and turning “nothingness” into “eternal principles” must begin at a very young age. “Nothingness” is a very descriptive word of how many are viewing life. “Eternal principles” are not only spiritual or biblical beliefs, but are principles for daily living that remain constant, no matter the age or generation.
The next generation needs to see positive answers to all the things mentioned in the Fox News broadcast. These younger people are very open to solutions that rise above with social media, and the culture are offering. What can we do as Christians to take advantage of this openness? The answer must be to share the gospel and the relevancy of the Bible as the inspired word of God, and to view it as the handbook for life and eternity.
“It is so important for the young generation to know that serving God is more than a matter of do’s and don’ts. It’s an incredible story! It’s about the awesome power of God setting us spiritually free when we call upon his name. It’s about his faithfulness to us at times when we don’t know where to turn. Life’s problems are real, but God is more real.” (1)
