When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
你若被人请去赴婚宴，不要坐在首位上，恐怕有比你尊贵的客被他请来；(路加福音 14:8）

It is time to give you an update on our year, well we have certainly travelled less, but this year has been dominated by one event and that is the blessed wedding of my beloved daughter Sherry to her now husband Peter.
是时候给大家更新一下我们这一年的生活了。今年我们外出旅行明显少了，但整年都被一件大事占据——那就是我挚 爱的女儿Sherry与她现在的老公Peter幸福地举行了婚礼。

Most of the year has been preparing for this day, Peter came back to Nanjing on the 1st March and we met him and his parents at the airport, KK again wearing a suit.
大半年时间都在为这一天做准备。Peter在3月1日回到南京，我们去机场接他和他父母，KK又一次正儿八经地穿上了 西装。

Both Sherry and Peter organized everything, they did photographs, organized the wedding venue, this was such a blessing, they did an amazing job.
Sherry和Peter把一切都安排得井井有条：拍婚纱照、订婚礼场地……这真是极大的祝福，他们做得太棒了！

Weddings are different in China, for all those who have never been to a Chinese wedding, here is what happens.
中国的婚礼和西方不太一样，给所有没参加过中国婚礼的朋友简单介绍一下流程。

Everything was focused on the big day, there is a lot of stress relating to weddings, there is so much to do,
所有精力都集中在婚礼当天，筹备婚礼真的特别累、压力特别大，有做不完的事。

During the summer, I kept busy teaching and Helen, Sherry and Peter, organized everything, assuring me that all was well.
整个夏天我忙着上课，Helen、Sherry和Peter把婚礼的事全部包揽了，一直安慰我说“一切都好”。

The day finally came, we woke up at a ridiculously early hour (for me anyway), Peter’s family and friends were already outside the door ready to take Sherry to his parents for breakfast, all is Chinese tradition.
婚礼当天终于到来，我们（至少对我来说）在荒唐地早的时间起床，Peter的家人和朋友已经堵在门口，准备按中国传统把Sherry“接”走去他家吃早饭。

For months, KK had been asking for a waistcoat to wear with his suit, Helen went one better and bought KK a new suit, with wait for it, a bow tie!. He looked quite dapper in it!
好几个月来，KK一直嚷着要配西装的马甲，Helen直接更进一步给他买了一套新西装——等等——还配了领结！他穿上后真的特别帅气！

We arrived at Nanjing guest house, which is a massive house up Purple mountain, which has the ability to hold four weddings at once, it has so many rooms.
我们来到南京宾馆（紫金山上的一座超大庄园），那里一次能同时举办四场婚礼，房间多得数不过来。

Now Chinese weddings are a little different to western ones, the bridegroom has to find the bride’s shoe, which is hidden somewhere and then has to make a speech before the bride and the best man and groom have to dance before all the family assembled.
中国婚礼和西方确实不太一样：新郎要先找到藏起来的新娘的鞋子，然后发表“求婚”感言，之后新郎、新娘和伴郎伴娘要在所有亲友面前跳舞。

Next the bride and groom had to give both parents, special cups of water and receive red envelopes filled with cash, to have my daughter do this was such a joy.
接着，新郎新娘要给双方父母敬茶（改口水），父母回赠装满现金的红包。看到我女儿做这个环节，我心里特别开心。

The wedding venue was huge, now usually the groom walks his bride down the aisle, but I was blessed to walk Sherry down the Aisle and hand her over to Peter, usually the bride walks down herself.
婚礼现场非常大。通常是中国新郎自己把新娘牵进场，但这次我特别荣幸能亲自牵着Sherry走过红毯，把她交到Peter手里——这在国内其实很少见，新娘通常是自己走的。

I can never forget the moment, the doors opened and I first glimpsed Sherry, my heart skipped a beat, a moment that will live with me forever.
那一刻我永远不会忘记：大门打开，我第一眼看到穿着婚纱的Sherry，心脏都漏跳了一拍，这一幕会伴随我一生。

I was very nervous and fortunately I didn’t fall over or mess it up, it was one of the greatest joys of my life and it just give me great happiness every time I think about it.
我当时特别紧张，幸好没摔倒也没搞砸。这是我人生中最伟大的喜悦之一，每次想起都觉得特别幸福。

The wedding was amazing, they both pledged to each other, our pastor spoke and then the parents walked down the aisle, Helen gave a speech and Peter’s father, gave probably the best wedding speech I’ve ever heard, although I didn’t understand a word!
婚礼非常精彩，他们互相宣誓，牧师证道，然后父母走红毯。Helen致辞，Peter的爸爸发表了我听过的最棒的婚礼讲话——虽然我一个字都没听懂！

At Chinese weddings, you have a host, who leads the wedding, they throw out red envelopes filled with cash, Myself and Peter’s father, thought we should help out, but both of us were literally mobbed, he was surrounded by ladies desperate for money, KK less so (he has never been chased by women. ever).
中国婚礼有主持人全程带动气氛，还会抛洒装现金的红包。我和Peter爸爸觉得应该帮忙抛，结果我们俩直接被围攻，他被一群女士团团围住拼命抢钱，我这边稍微好一点（KK这辈子还没被女人追抢过呢）。

We were the last out of the hotel by 10:30pm, totally exhausted, but so happy.
我们晚上10:30最后一批离开酒店，累得不行，但特别开心。

Life goes on here, visits to Shanghai to get my new passport, but it has been a quiet year.
生活继续，去了趟上海换新护照，但总体来说今年算安静的一年。

Next year, we want to come to the USA and Canada
明年我们想去美国和加拿大，

The Alty adventurer has been travelling again, he has been to Nepal, trekking to Everest Base Camp, there has been reports of people seeing the Abominable Snowman and the Yeti, but it was David!
Alty家的冒险家又出发了！他去了尼泊尔，徒步到珠峰大本营，有人说看到“雪人”和“野人”，其实那是David！

He is a regular little Tarzan, who like to swim in the Arctic. Hopefully he will be able to come to China to meet his fan club!
他简直就是小版泰山，连北极都敢去游泳。希望他能来中国见见他的粉丝团！

I am a blessed man, now I have my own family, it’s complete… well maybe not, in future years I hope to be a granddad, God has blessed me beyond measure.
我是一个蒙大福的人，现在有了自己的小家庭，感觉圆满了……嗯，也许还不完全，将来我还希望能当外公。神赐给我的福分实在超乎我配得。

It is because of Him, that I’m here.
我能在这里生活，全因祂的恩典。

Thanks as always to my wonderful family and especially to my precious Lord, who continues to bless me abundantly, more than I ever deserve.
