Why We Have Found Mercy? – 为何我们得到了怜悯？

提摩太前书1章

16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as an example to show everyone how patient he is with even the worst sinners, so that others will realize that they, too, can have everlasting life. (living bible)
16然而我蒙了怜悯，是因耶稣基督要在我这罪魁身上显明他一切的忍耐，给后来信他得永生的人作榜样。（当代圣经）

Why We Have Found Mercy?
为何我们得到了怜悯？

Mercy is God withholding what we truly deserve. Amen.
怜悯是上帝保留不施与我们真正所应受的…阿们。

Of all the people in the Epistles, Paul truly was the ultimate example of God’s mercy. After all, here was a man who was the sworn enemy of Christ and his church.
在圣经书信中的所有人物中，保罗确实是上帝怜悯的终极典范。毕竟，这个人曾是基督和他教会的死敌。

It is put very well in the early verses of Acts 8. Stephen had just been killed by stoning, and now Paul lets rip… Read these words.
在《使徒行传》第8章的前段经文中有很好的表述。司提反刚刚被石头砸死，现在保罗对教会的逼迫是肆无忌惮了……读这些话。

Paul was in complete agreement with the killing of Stephen.

And a great wave of persecution of the believers began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem, and everyone except the apostles fled into Judea and Samaria. 2 (But some godly Jews[a] came and with great sorrow buried Stephen.) 3 Paul was like a wild man, going everywhere to devastate the believers, even entering private homes and dragging out men and women alike and jailing them.
从这日起，耶路撒冷的教会大遭逼迫。除了使徒之外，门徒们都分散在犹太和撒马利亚各处。2（但有些虔诚的犹太人来了，怀着极大的悲痛埋葬了司提反。）3保罗就像一个野蛮人，到处残害信徒，甚至进入各人的家，拉着男女下到监里。

But God had mercy on him. In spite of all this terrible rage, God saved Him.
但是上帝施怜悯与他。即便他的暴行罄竹难书，上帝还是救赎了他。

Why does he show mercy to us?
他为什么怜悯我们？

He saves us to show people that his grace and mercy can save even the worst sinners… like you and like me. There is no one beyond the realm of God’s mercy, and we are saved so that people can know that they too can receive the mercy and grace of God.
他拯救我们是为了向人们表明，他的恩典和怜悯甚至可以拯救最坏的罪人……像你和我这样的罪人。没有人与上帝的怜悯相隔离，我们被拯救是为了让人们知道他们也可以得到上帝的怜悯和恩典。

Believer, you are a living testament to the mercy and grace of God.
信徒们，你们是上帝慈爱和恩典的活生生的见证。
