Any Excuse –

Proverbs 26-
13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.
15 The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

Any Excuse

King Solomon was a man of action, especially in his youth.

His troubles came when he became older and slower.

We all like to rest, me more than most!!!

But we do not want rest to lead us to become lazy.

Rest comes from hard work; laziness is the irresponsible act of avoiding work. Amen.

In the Book of Proverbs, the “sluggard” is a person who shuns hard work and seeks a life of ease and comfort.

There is a little sluggard that lives inside each of us, and if we are not careful, that sluggard will rob us of the motivation and discipline we need to do the job that is set before us.

King Solomon gives 4 examples of how a person who is lazy reacts and he likens them to some everyday objects.

Indeed, the person who is lazy, won’t even eat and feed him or herself.

You know we often say let’s take a rest and then it lasts one day then goes on and on and on, until we become virtually dormant and dead in our feelings and actions.

There is no excuse to be a sluggard…let’s call laziness what it is and never make any excuse for sitting on our hands…remember the devil has work for idle hands.

David was lazy, he was at ease with himself, and we all know what happened to him, don’t we?

God bless you,
