God Is Over All Of Creation, We Are All Accountable To Him

Genesis, chapter one, says that God created humans, animals, the sun and the moon, the seas and land, and all plant life. He is over all. The Psalmist writes, “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him”(Psalm 8:3-4). “By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host”(Psalm 33:6). Psalm 74:16-17 says, “Yours is the day, yours also the night, you have established the heavenly lights and the sun, you have fixed all the boundaries of the earth, you have made summer and winter.”

God also sustains his creation. Colossians 1:16-17 says, “For by God all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities…and he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

Psalm 103:19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his Kingdom rules over all.

All government has been established by God (Romans 13:1). He is over all people, kings, and rulers. “The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man”(Psalm 11:4). “The Lord looks down from heaven and sees all the children of man; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds”((Psalm 33-13-15). Isaiah 66:1 tells us that God’s “heaven is his throne and the earth is his footstool.” That is an interesting image, is it not?

God is over all the nations. Acts 17:26 reads, “God made from one man every nation of mankind to live on the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him.”

Romans 1:19-20 What is known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Yet in spite of all of the above, most of humanity is living like there is no God, doing their own thing and going their own ways, with no accountability.

However, God has given them over to the lusts of their hearts, to dishonorable passions, and to debased thinking (Romans 1: 24-32). “Let all the earth fear the Lord, let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him…The Lord brings the counsels of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the people”(Psalm 33:8-10).

“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds…The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.” (Psalm 14:1-2). “From the heavens you uttered judgment, the earth feared and was still, when God rose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth”(Psalm 76:8-9).

1 Corinthians 4:5 No creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account”(Hebrews 4:13), “who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
