10 Personal Adjustments That Are Sure To Bless God

Sometimes, we find ourselves wondering if we are being good stewards of that which God has given us to use on our journey through life.  Are we being kind?  Are we being good financial managers?  Are we being the witness we need to be on behalf of the Kingdom of God?  Each one of us has different concerns.  It’s always good to stop and take stock of our efforts and our results to see if adjustments need to be made.  The following list is not exhaustive.  It is a place to start, a place to see where we can improve upon the love motivated blessings we offer our marvelous God.

1.  Let love and laughter decorate each day you live. (Mark 12: 30-31)  No matter what your circumstances, when you present joy and love to someone, it makes a lasting impact.  It is especially evident when most people would normally be down and out.

2.  Communicate with God daily. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)  Pray, in other words.  God created us for relationship and talking to Him blesses His heart.  Be honest.  He knows what is residing in your heart anyway.  Praying makes the relationship more intimate.

3.  Believe God’s word with confidence and expectation.  (Hebrews 11:6)  Read His word and respond as though He really did mean it.  We grieve the Lord and water down the effect of God’s power in our lives when we don’t expect Him to move.

4.  Bless the poor and needy by giving willingly.  (Proverbs 31:9)  It doesn’t have to be monetary giving unless that is the need.  Ask the Holy Spirit how you can bless someone in need.  Then believe He’ll show you exactly what will do the trick.

5.  Praise and worship God only – daily.  (Exodus 20:3)  Our God is a jealous God for His children.  He knows the danger to us when we misplace our praise and worship.  If we remember all his benefits, it will be easy to give Him the glory to His name daily.

6. Do not be afraid. (Deuteronomy 31:6)  Instead of taking the fear-filled route, choose rather to say aloud, “I trust God and have confidence in Him.”  He smiles when you proclaim, aloud, your trust in His ability to take care of that “fear” trigger.

7.  Take a child-like approach to life and relationships. (Luke 18:15-17)  Faith is a child-attitude.  They are friendly and loving towards all (as mentioned in God Calling, edited by A.J. Russell).

8.  Remember to give God thanks. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)  He deserves our heart-felt thanks because the things we actually notice are only a small fraction of the whole of His loving care.

9.  Humble yourself before God. (James 4:10)  True humility is not putting yourself down which spotlights a root of pride.  Humility is taking responsibility for our actions whether or not positive results occur and giving God the credit for our abilities and advancements.

10.  Have an upright, righteous approach to all you do and all you meet. (Psalm 15: 1-3, Colossians 3:23)  This approach gives people a view of the Kingdom of God.

Blessing God is not earning salvation.  It is a loving heart-response with thanksgiving for God’s goodness towards us.

Which of these 10 adjustments can you employ to bless our God more fully?

  1. Awesome words, Stephanie. Especially want to focus on #5 and #8, as this brings Him close, and as such, the proper perspective.

Thank you, Emily, for your comment. I was thinking it would be good to work on one a week and then repeat. I found it a good reminder as I wrote.
