There are many broken people. Loneliness is an emotional epidemic, and depression is off the charts. Some are suffering from emotional hurts and physical abuse from their past. Others are carrying a weight of unforgiveness or guilt. Many people are stuck in destructive situations with no way out. For all the cases mentioned above life may be staying the same day in and day out with no end in sight. A breakthrough is desperately needed.
In the New Testament there are many passages of Jesus helping hurting and helpless people. God loves people with hurts. If you are one of those kinds of people, God loves you. Christianity is for those who are emotionally bowed down. Psalm 145:14 says, “ The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 147:3 adds, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Perhaps you are paying some negative consequences of doing some really bad things. I have great news for you. God does not deal with people according to their sins. This is clearly stated in Psalm 103:10. “He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” God does not keep a running list of our sins.
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you are going through depression, there is a Bible verse for that in Psalm 42:11. “Why are you cast down O my soul and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
Are you stuck in a destructive situation with no apparent way out? Isaiah 43:18-19 addresses this. “Remember not the former things nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing. Now it brings forth. Do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Do you feel like you have really messed up and fallen far short of God‘s righteousness? Romans 3:23-24 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God but are justified by his grace as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
The greatest expression of love and grace was when Jesus came to the earth from His heavenly glory and took on human form so he could relate to the hurts and abuse of people like you and me. He died for your sins and rose from the dead so that you can have forgiveness and redemption. The whole basis of Christianity is grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8 tells us, “For by Grace, you have been saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing. It is the gift of God.”
God can be your breakthrough for loneliness, depression, emotional or physical hurt guilt, stuck situations, or whatever else you may be going through. However, you must come humbly before God and recognize that you need his help to pull you through. Your breakthrough may not happen right away (though in some cases it could). It might be a long process, but it is better than continuing with no end in sight.
You will have hope for positive change and begin to see a way out with a new beginning. This is what Christianity is all about. It is a relationship built on love and grace that gives people a second chance at life.
