My Church Family, My Forever Family

If you don’t belong to a church you are missing out on God’s blessing.

I am so grateful for my church family.  When I say “church family” I mean all the people who believe and walk in faith.  It has taken me a while to find the right place … but shortly after our children were born I began asking God to show us where we should go, where we should get “plugged in” as some might say.  We were going nowhere and I missed it dearly.  I wanted our girls to grow up going to church as I had.

Our first church we attended together as a family was wonderful.  They are my family, no matter where I may roam.  They sincerely love the Lord.  However, there were no small children and my heart started secretly whispering to God for a church that had other children.

One morning, a friend called and said, “You know, I just wanted to invite you to our church, I know it’s a drive for you, but we have children’s church while the Pastor gives his sermon.”

Answered prayers.  I am not a believer in church-hopping, and I say, always leave on good terms and with blessings.

I missed out for years by not going regularly, I wonder, if I had not had children, would I ever have found my way back to my church family?

If you are not going anywhere, find a place that preaches the Word of God, where people worship only Him and none other.  No family is perfect, we are human.  But, the thing is, to love each other regardless of flaws, or personality differences.  As long as you agree that Jesus is Lord, let the small things go and stand together.

Every first Sunday of the month our church has a meal together after the service.  I love to watch as they hurry about, always looking for ways to encourage each other.  I imagine all the other people, tiny clusters who believe in the One True God, all together, holding up needs again and again in prayer.

If you have not searched out your Forever Family, I encourage you to do so.  I promise, you will never be able to keep up with the blessings you receive.   Not only that … the rest of us need you!

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another.”  Hebrews 10:24-25
