Destructive Protests: A Battle Between Darkness And Light

There is a battle in destructive protests between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. This is evident in the hatred, rioting, destruction, and the blocking of roadways. If any of these are present, it is not a peaceful protest. A peaceful protest is taking a stand for what one believes or against some issue, but verbally expressing oneself without destruction of property or aggressive behavior toward another person. Destructive protests do nothing, but lead to more division and hatred, hurting individuals and businesses.

The kingdom of darkness is full of deception, calling good evil, and evil good, as stated in Isaiah 5:20“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” This has become obvious by the fact that many don’t recognize the difference between peaceful and unpeaceful protests. Many times we have heard people say it is peaceful when businesses are being destroyed and vehicles are set on fire.

The only answer to destructive protesting is for people to be transferred into the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13-14), and to become a follower of Jesus who is the light of the world (John 8:12). Then there will be a new character and nature that will not want to be involved in destructive protesting. The answer is to realize the need for change and call upon the grace of God. He can turn a destructive protestor into a person with a positive purpose.

It is very sad that many people have nothing better to do with their life than to cause disruption and violence. God wants everyone to experience his love, grace, and forgiveness. God wants people to see what He can do with their life when they choose to follow Him, but since they choose to not acknowledge God, He gives them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done (Romans 1:28). Instead of choosing to peacefully protest they choose violence and destruction, which are characteristics of the kingdom of darkness.

The problem is that “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel…” (2 Corinthians 4:4).  The destructive protests will continue unless people have their hearts transformed by God’s grace and transferred into His kingdom of light.

In the meantime, Christians must pray and be the light to the world in the battle between darkness and light. “Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Ephesians 6:10-12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God…For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

  1. John,
This is so relevant and so true.
Thank you for this message of importance,
    God Bless~

  2. Time and time again, many people are lead by a blind person with a lack of knowledge or reasoning. Their heart is deceived and desperately wicked. Who can know the deviation it will bring? Unfortunately many people don’t look into both sides of the issue but plunge head first into the narratives spun and they jump on the bandwagon.
There may be people who are attention seekers and want to be a part of a cause so they join in without really checking the facts. We are seeing many being told to show up and shout up so they won’t dialogue with those that are inquiring and may say something that could challenge their position.
Just watching their demeanor shows hostility which is the wrong way to protest. But unfortunately they go along with the crowd that is so out of order and defiantly create chaos.
It makes us react to these situations with various thoughts. But, we have to reign in our emotions and lean on the Lord.
That is a challenge for us remembering that these people are deeply deceived and in danger of the judgment. May many in this ditch come to the place that their eyes are opened to truth and they will be delivered from their transgressions.
Appreciate you addressing this shameful ordeal going on with hateful consequences.
