I Will Not Change By Persuasion Alone

The decision to stand firm on an atheistic belief “is not for intellectual reasons but for moral reasons” -Ravi Zacharias.

Think about this statement for a moment. There is more scientific evidence to prove the existence of a divine creator than there is to disprove the existence of one yet those who have been persuaded to look outside of their atheistic belief still remain firm in their opinion. Why? The simple reason is this, free will. No matter how much persuasion has been made and accepted, it still comes down to a choice. Are people willing to give up a belief that they have accepted most if not all of their life, or are they willing to let go and choose to accept the divine Creator?

As a child, we are taught to believe what our parents have instilled in us: morals values, beliefs. Time passes. We grow up, and the decisions we make in life are a reflection of our own choice not necessarily that of our parents. Some may run as far away as possible from their parents’ beliefs as did Jonah, others cling to them as if their life depends upon it. Whichever way they go, the decision still remains their own.

No matter what evidence is placed before you, there will come a time when you will be called to explain your life choices. It’s not a group discussion or a place for parents to defend their children. It is one on one time with the divine Creator.

God understands the workings of a man’s mind and heart and where his choices may lead. For “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 16:25). God wishes for no man to perish. Will today be the day you allow your persuaded heart to change or will you continue to stand firm in denying His existence?

  1. Ha! ‘Moral reasons’. That is complete and utter BS! Every person on the planet is born with and taught morals. Every child, no matter what the parents believe, no matter how you were raised, no matter if religion is involved or not, every child has morals.

Kids are taught from a very young age the difference between right and wrong; don’t kill, don’t lie, don’t steal, treat others how you want to be treated and so on. All of that has been taught to kids over the ages and most of them grow up following those rules.

Now, as one gets older things can and will change. They will start to question things and that is good! Can’t understand something if you don’t question it.

Atheists were not really a problem a few years ago. They had no belief in anything and that was the end of it. The problem with them now is that have taken after the pro gay movement. Gays have got their way for a while and have forced their views on others. Since that has happened the atheists have done the same thing.

If you take away laws, rules, morals and God, you can do anything you want to without feeling guilty. Convincing people there is no God or Hell completely wipes out sin or consequences for your actions.

If athiests really do not belive in a higher power, why do they care if the Ten Commandments are on a courthouse lawn? They really shouldn’t as they don’t belive them. They dont want them gone because of some seperation of church and state thing, they want them gone because they can and it takes away guilt.

Haha. Probably could have made that a tad more legible, but don’t wanna go back and change it 😀

    • Nxs,
Thank you for taking note of the information presented in the article. I wanted to clarify the idea of morality. Morality is not just in reference to the idea of right and wrong, but it is also in reference to a system of value to which Ravi Zacharias was speaking about. People may agree with the facts being presented, but until they are willing to change their system of value, all of the persuasion in the world will not make a difference. Yes, we are all born with an innate system of right and wrong, but that doesn’t mean we will chose to listen to it nor does it mean that our idea of right and wrong matches up with those around us. A person is born with an idea of right and wrong but depending on how they are raised (environment or culture) their ideas of moral acceptance between right and wrong may be skewed. For example, outside of a Western culture, a child may be taught that killing Americans is not only good but deemed morally acceptable, but to those of the Western culture would obviously view that as morally wrong.

  2. I am commenting on the notion that we are born with some sort of built-in code of morals. If that be the case we don’t need to be taught how to behave because that should be a natural way of life for us. The opposite is true and that is why parents have to discipline their children to order to correct them?
Such an idea goes against God’s word that says that we are born with a sin nature from our forefather Adam.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Psalm 51:5

Many people grow up with a self-centered focus on life are not interested in being corrected for poor or bad behavior . Nor would they impose this on their offspring. You don’t give what you don’t have.

Living in today’s society a number of people have adopted a modern way of thinking called ‘relevance’ that has created a blight in our world posing as a means of displaying tolerance for anything and everything imaginable to be acceptable no matter the actions of another. The evidence being carried out by those who hold to this philosophy clearly ignore the moral standards given by the law of God as recorded in he Bible.

Thus, by giving allowance to questionable acts committed by others as somehow deemed to be acceptable, it tries to strip away our right to judge another’s actions all together so we don’t see it as ‘being wrong’..
When questioned, I heard someone state that rape or murder of a child was something they would not chose to do because of their personal standards but if another person feels it is okay for them to commit these act, it is their right and we are not to decide if it is right or wrong.. What?

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 16:25

So for those who don’t want any accountable to a Creator, just try to write your own rules beginning with the your own wisdom of erasing God from your world.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalms 53:1
