Psalm 91 Is Relevant For Today !

As we navigate these uncertain times of change and upheaval, the words God provided in the Bible seem to be more clearly relevant than ever before.

If you look closely, you will notice a very recognizable number in Psalm 91:1.  See it?  911 – a call for emergency help.  What do you want to know when you need help fast?  You want to know that you are safely covered.  If you dwell in the secret place of the most high, you also abide under His shadow.  He towers over you, covering you, protecting you.

In these perilous times we need a refuge…a place of safety.  I, personally, desire a very effective wall of protection around me.  Psalm 91:2 has us covered there.  God addresses this specifically.  My part is to not only believe but also to trust Him.

Daily we hear of terror, death, pestilence (infectious plagues), and destruction like we never thought possible.  God speaks directly to these happenings in Psalm 91:5-6.  He doesn’t want us to be afraid.  Great fear or terror is a tormenting enemy and cripples our usefulness in just about every way.  It eats up our thought life tainting our ability to trust God.

God offers very specific promises to us in Psalm 91: 7-13.  This is where our faith must step up to the plate.  If we are children of God, our eternal resting place is secure even if our faith fails to grab on to these “too good to be true” promises.  But know that He has made them available to those who can believe according to Matthew 9:10A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Friend, thousands are falling at the hands of evil as I write.  Imagine the protection He offers to His followers who dare to take Him at His word. (Yes, I know I walk on the virtual “edge” by proclaiming that God’s word is true, but I must. It is. He is.)

God responds, personally, to us in verses 14-16.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).  Take the time to seriously consider God’s offer to rescue and preserve.  You must be His child, washed clean by the blood of Jesus who made atonement for our sins on His cross over 2,000 years ago.  Accept His forgiveness and Lordship then reread Psalm 91 until it thrills your heart bestowing within you the peace of Christ that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

  1. Thanks for reminding us of that great Psalm. We do need to claim it in this day and time. I am with you in the battle.
