When It Seems Like All Hope Is Lost – The Light Shines!

A Story of Conflicting Times

In a world where political divides deepen and anger simmers to a boiling point, nations find themselves in turmoil. Leaders rise and fall, each promising change, yet the hearts of the people remain restless. Protests fill the streets, and social media buzzes with heated debates. Amidst this chaos, small communities gather, seeking solace in their faith, knowing that the answer to it all is only up to One Being – our LORD!  He is the only One that can change and promote peace and bring a semblance of normalcy back into this world. If would only all humanity would fall on their knees and pray and ask for forgiveness and follow Him and His commandments – things wouldn’t have gotten so bleak and out of sorts. He listens – He is waiting – He is forever- He leaves us never.

The Sovereignty of God

Despite the turmoil, they find comfort in the scriptures, knowing that God is the true ruler.  As it is written in 1 Chronicles 29:11-12:

Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.”

They remind each other that no matter who is president or what policies are enacted, God’s sovereignty remains unchallenged. Proverbs 19:21   reassures them:

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”

God’s Protection

In these uncertain times, they cling to the promise of God’s protection. Psalm 46:1 provides comfort:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

They believe that God will keep His children safe, as Psalm 91:4 declares:

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Reflective Questions

  1. How can we find peace in God’s sovereignty amidst political unrest?
  2. What steps can we take to show love and understanding in a divided world?
  3. How can we trust in God’s protection when fear and uncertainty surround us?

Supportive Scriptures

  • Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
  • Isaiah 46:9-10– “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”
  • Psalm 118:6 – “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”

Moral Takeaways

  • Unity in Faith: Despite external conflicts, unity in faith can bring peace and strength.
  • Trust in God’s Plan: Believing in God’s plan helps us navigate through uncertain times.
  • Love and Compassion: Showing love and compassion can bridge divides and heal wounds.

“Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in these turbulent times, seeking Your guidance and protection. We know that You are the true ruler of all, and we trust in Your Sovereignty. Help us to find peace in Your Presence and to show love and understanding to those around us. Protect us from harm and keep us safe under Your wings. Unite us in faith and strengthen us to face the challenges ahead, not matter what they may be, or when they may be. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Scripture to Ponder

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

May God’s love, Word and His promises in the scriptures bring you comfort and strength. How do you feel about the current state of the world, and how does your faith help you navigate through it? Remember that no matter how things may seem there is always hope in the One true Light of the World. And He is the purveyor of goodness and all joy. Hold on to the LORD and experience peace and love even in the midst of chaotic oblivion…. Amen!
