Wonder Working Power

Christianity is not a way of life. It is not a philosophy. It is not a way to have a good life, achieve success, or be free of earthly circumstances. Christianity is the wonder working power of God given to have a new life in Christ. It is the power to change a person’s path from death to life.

Do you ever wonder, “Where is this power in America?” Do we see this power to change a life, to change our nation, and to change our world? I am reminded of the fast food commercial where the old woman asked the now famous question: Where’s the beef?” Where is this wonderful power of God to save in America?

2 Chronicles 20:6

An army, a great multitude, was advancing upon the southern kingdom of Judah. King Jehoshaphat and his people were afraid. The king called for the entire nation to fast and pray. He then went to the Lord himself speaking these words. He sought the Lord, for he had seen the mighty power of God at work in His people before. Scripture tells us the entire nation: men, women, and children stood before the Lord ( 2 Chron. 20:13). It reminds us of God’s promise:

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
(Jer. 29:13)

Through one, Jahaziel:

… came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst. (2 Chron. 20:14)

Through him, God said:

Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chron. 20:15)

2 Chronicles 20:29

Why do so few fear God in our world today? It is because so little of the power of God is seen. The power of God is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is found in God’s people when they seek Him with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength. Those who would profess Christ talk much, but where is the power in their words? (1 Corinthians 4:20)

Are we, in America, using the powers of the flesh to try to achieve God’s purposes? (2 Corinthians 10:4)

So much of what we do is done in the flesh–even our service for God. The God we serve is the same God of Jehoshaphat. We have many enemies today. There are many who wish to divide us or even destroy us. It is the power of God that made this a great nation.

Is America Still a Great Nation?

Where is the wonder working power found in Christ’s shed blood that makes nations fear Him? Where is this power that makes a man tremble before Him? I see God’s power changing lives in some individuals. The power of God is seen in the power of men to share this gospel of truth. It is seen in a nation who is on its knees before a holy and righteous God. It will be seen again in America when God’s people–every man, woman and child–search for God with all their hearts in true repentance. Are we asleep in America to the need for His people to seek Him?

A great multitude is advancing towards America. They are coming from without and within. Where can we go from God’s loving Spirit? Where can we hide where He cannot see us? Will we seek Him who has the power none is able to withstand?

Are you experiencing this wonder working power in your own life? Is the Church in America experiencing this power? How do you see this power of God working in your life and in the life of your church?

Where Can I Go/Where Can I Hide

Where can I go to escape Your Loving Spirit
How can I hide where Your eyes cannot see it
Where can I go in the loneliness of night
How can I hide from your penetrating Light

How can my own tongue make even a sound
Unless in Your ear its sound does resound
You embrace me both from behind and before
With your hand ever on me You seek to restore

You are so far beyond me how can I perceive
The perfect Love You give … the grace that I receive
If I live in the shadows of Heaven … I know that you’ll be there
If I make my bed in darkness … Your Love is there prepared

Even in the night the Light of The Morning Star burns bright
When I made my secret and sowed it secretly in my blight
How precious were Your Loving thoughts for me
How prosperous were Your plans for me

How deceitful is my heart above all other things
These desperately wicked things … oh why do I cling
I was shown my nakedness and I was not ashamed
You made Yourself known … Your truth was made plain

Wonderful Power … there is nowhere Your hand will not guide me
Wonder working power … there is nowhere Your hand will not hold me
I search for You … for where can I go to escape Your Loving Spirit
I will find You … for how can I hide where Your eyes cannot see it

  1. America and the church are both asleep! Dictionary defines asleep:
as “dead, insensible, insensitive, numb, unfeeling.” Praying for repentance and revival!

  2. The church of born again believers have far too many who have lip service only! In fact, many are now getting comfortable in betrayal and the antichrist spirit has entered. Christ as the Head of the church is being toyed with!

  3. Thanks Kathi for your wise comments.
