What does your dream house look like? Are you living in it?  Or is it a work-in-progress?  I grew up in humble homes, I have lived in some luxury homes (couch surfing), and I’ve learned that it’s not always about what you see that makes a house feel like a home.

So what makes a house feel like a home? Is it what it looks like, or how it makes you feel when you enter?

My dream house is tiny, cozy: A stone cottage next to a sparkling little stream, trout flashing like rainbows, tea and coffee, cookies and breads and a steady feast. Bookcases are filled with beautiful stories, a tidy fireplace with comfy places to curl up in.  Okay, so maybe not what you would call a castle, but my idea of a castle nontheless.

It is exciting to imagine all that we stand to inherit in eternity, to know that the Lord is creating this place, this space, just for us, that He knows what we each like right down to the detail.  We each have a castle, a home that is being built. There is so much to look forward to in life and eternity.  We have such hope when Jesus tells us that He is going to prepare for us our hearts’ desires … and that He will be back.

I find it interesting how we are rarely satisfied with what we have. We want bigger, better, more, different, anything other than what we have. Things wear out, things break and need repairing.  It is a comfort to know that we serve such a personal God, one that gives us real peace, true satisfaction.
