Risen Indeed

At nine years of age, I asked Jesus to come into my heart on an Easter Sunday. I knew very little back then about the in-depth meaning of Resurrection and what a significant event it held for those who believe (or don’t believe) in God. Assuming that particular holiday was a time to hide decorated eggs, eat chocolate bunnies and yellow marshmallow peeps, I had loads of fun. Incidentally, I’m not sure I understand any more now than I did then, but I’d like to.

Suppose Easter is woven together by one thread—what would that thread look like? Maybe this—for God so loved the whole world that He gave His only begotten Son, and that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. I’m guessing that’s the short answer. The depths of His rich wisdom and understanding are past finding out. However, we know God loves everyone and provided a perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins in the person of His Son. But those who turn from God’s love choose His wrath instead.

For every Christian, the resurrection is not only real but essential because of its’ importance to everything we believe. The resurrection means we can be free from the bondage of sin and delivered from its’ power. The risen Redeemer guarantees that He has conquered sin, death and hell. So can we, in Him.

Actually, Jesus is active; not only in heaven, but He lives within us in the form of the Holy Spirit. He’s seated at the right hand of His Father interceding for believers all over the globe. Additionally, the Lord is present with us. His supernatural power is available to transform us and give strength for our daily struggles. If we don’t understand this truth, we’ll wobble through life with no purpose, rhyme or reason as to why we exist.
