Never Too Young: A Message To Our Youth

Never Too Young: A Message To Our Youth

By Joel B.

Today I turned forty and when I look back on my life there are a lot of things I got right and there are a lot of things I wish I would’ve done differently. However, there is an upside to doing things wrong, and that is we can pass along our knowledge to others as to what not to do. Today I am going to attempt to share a little of both.

First, I want to let our youth know that it is never too early to get involved in ministry. You don’t need to get on a plane and fly to a third world country to do ministry. You can simply gather some friends and start a bible study in your neighborhood. Also, try doing some community service for people or organizations who really need the help. Sure it’s work, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a little hard labor and you may not realize this, but you are actually healthier than a lot of people that would end up doing the work otherwise if you hadn’t volunteered.

I also want to send out the message that you should never underestimate how God can use you. Set an example for others at school. Be that person who helps those who get picked on or who need a friend. You may find out that the people that need your help are actually hurting inside and need someone to help release some of that anxiety that is building up. Also consider the need for these individuals to develop social skills so that they can find jobs and make friends once they graduate from high school.

Something not to do is assume that you know the Bible. When I was a teenager I was convinced I didn’t need to read the Bible because I knew right from wrong. I missed the point altogether. It’s true that man has an inherent understanding of good and evil, but there is so much more to the Bible than good and evil. It’s about joy, happiness, peace, relationships, and thousands of other important aspects of one’s life. Don’t sell yourself short and miss out on reading the bestselling book of all time.

Finally, don’t be in a rush to get into a relationship. People don’t realize that they when they have relationships they create spiritual ties. God has designed you to have a single spiritual tie with another individual who is to have a single spiritual tie with you. When you start having spiritual ties with multiple partners, you complicate things and you get into a danger zone. Wait for that special person God has chosen for you. You will know when they come along.

Friends, teens, youth, listen to these words. People often say you are the future, but there is more to it than that. You are the present as well. You can do big things today that make a difference; both in your life and in the lives of others. Don’t miss out on what you could’ve accomplished over having a “good time.” Go out there and bear spiritual fruit and show the world that you can make a difference now. Thank you for reading and God bless.

  1. It’s important to encourage our youth to look for ways to serve others early in their lives. There are many people who can use a helping hand, especially those getting up there in years. What were simple things at one time for the elderly in particular are becoming challenges lately. Learning early in life that helping others can be very rewarding is important and it develops a better understanding of how life plays out through involvement. Another important aspect is that it helps develop a caring spirit. It can help them to see how blessed they are to be the one offering help instead of needing it.
In time the reward of friendships have become greater than they would have otherwise experienced and to know that people do appreciate them and want to return kindness that has been received.
Yes, the years can quickly creep upon us and feebleness sets in before you know what happened. It can be quite tough in this world so we need to help where we can and be the example for those who are looking for assistance. Be a tool for God.

  2. The Bible is encouraging the youths to work for God and kingdom building while they are young, instead of waiting until their bodies aren’t physically up for the challenges. Get creative and start winning souls for Christ young people!

  3. Something I would like to add. The Bible talks about Jesus teaching as early as age 12. I’m sure He was ministering even before that. Check out Luke 2:41-52. There’s no reason our youth can’t be following in His footsteps.

  4. And you are never too young to begin pursuing a God-given vision for your life. Don’t spend a lot of time going to movies, doing video games, or playing with your cell phone. Make quality use of your time and do some things that will really make a difference in your life and those around you.
