Is there climate change? Yes.
Do humans cause climate change? Your answer is yes if you listen to and believe the news media. According to them, it is a settled science.
NOT SO!
Britannica, in its article titled Climate Change (section on “Cons”), stated this: “A report found more than 1,000 scientists who disagreed that humans are primarily responsible for global climate change. The claim that 97% of scientists agree on the cause of global warming is inaccurate. The research on 11,944 studies actually found that only 3,974 even expressed a view on the issue. Of those, just 64 (1.6%) said humans are the main cause.
A Purdue University survey found that 47% of climatologists challenge the idea that humans are primarily responsible for climate change and instead believe that climate change is caused by an equal combination of humans and the environment (37%), mostly by the environment (5%), or that there’s not enough information to say (5%).”
Many scientists begin their studies with the assumption that there is no god or that there is God. This beginning assumption determines how facts are interpreted. Britannica, in the “pro man-caused” section of the article referenced above, states that there is an overwhelming consensus among scientists that climate change is man-caused. Be careful of the word, consensus, when used in connection with climate change or evolution. There is only a consensus because they have not checked for anyone who believes otherwise – or – if they know about them, they choose to ignore them. See my article, Science, God, and the Bible.
The Britannica article referenced above, includes a long list of “Pros” for man-caused climate change and a list of “Cons.” You can see the “Pros” in that article and in multitudes of other publications because that is the politically correct “consensus.” In this article, I will deal with just a few of the “Cons” because that is the viewpoint you usually don’t hear about.
Did you know the Vikings could farm in Greenland about 1,000 years ago? Then, they had to quit after a few hundred years because it became too cold. The temperature decline continued until a reversal started about 1700 A.D. The warming trend started long before the modern industrial era. Perhaps in the near future, they may be able to farm again.
Please note: Global warming and cooling have occurred throughout history – long before today’s pollution from industry. There was global warming in medieval days, then a dip into the Little Ice Age. Since then, the temperature has warmed again.
What about greenhouse gases and the effect of Carbon Dioxide (CO2)? Dr Alan White, with Answers in Genesis, wrote this comment in his article, Climate Change Facts: Should We Be Concerned?
“We do know that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases act as a blanket over the earth. When sunlight heats the earth’s surface, the warm earth radiates some of that heat into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases slow the escape of that radiated heat. You have been led to believe that the most important greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. It is not. Water vapor and clouds are actually responsible for about 80 to 90 percent of the total greenhouse effect. That’s right, at least 80 percent. That is why clear mornings are usually much colder than cloudy mornings. On clear mornings, we do not have that blanket of clouds to hold in the heat. The percentage of the greenhouse effect attributable to CO2 is believed to be as high as 20 percent by some and as low as 4 percent by others. Almost everyone agrees that the percent of CO2 that is man-made is only about 4 percent of total CO2. Therefore, the greenhouse effect caused by man-made CO2 is less than 1 percent of the total and may be a small fraction of 1 percent.”
There are many other factors to consider. Among them are the following topics:
- There are natural Causes of Climate Change.
- Computer climate simulations exaggerate Carbon Dioxide Warming.
- There are benefits to global warming that the media doesn’t report.
- The polar bear population has increased, not decreased.
- Global warming would save lives. More people die of cold than from heat.
- Increased plant growth due to higher carbon dioxide levels.
There are many books and a multitude of papers on this subject. I have just tried to stimulate you to do some research yourself.
If you do not believe in all the media hype about climate change and global warming, you are not alone. There is a petition project for scientists who reject the global warming hype. You can see the petition here. It is called the Global Warming Petition Project. Signers reject the 1997 Kyoto, Japan global warming agreement, saying there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases will cause catastrophic heating of the earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Instead, there is evidence of beneficial effects.
To date, 31,487 American scientists have signed this petition, including 9,029 PhDs.
A more complete paper on this subject is in the article, Is Man the Cause of Global Warming? I would encourage you to look at the other articles linked to this article.
In conclusion, Remember the promise given to us in Genesis 8:22. “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
As we continue in our Christian walk, we are instructed to “Prove (test) all things. Hold fast that which is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Be sure to Prove (test) Climate Change.
Very good information. The sad part is that people in this field try to create a scare factor and want to throw billions of dollars into the kettle to try and fix the situation. We also exhibit radical behavior by those who are a poster child of this movement. I personally see it as a scheme to extract money from those who buy into this program. I don’t believe any person(s) can control such matters unless it is granted by God to implement. But God doesn’t need the help so it is all the more silly.
We see even animals being targeted because of their natural functions. Yet those who are worried about saving the polar bear that doesn’t benefit people but want to harm cattle who are beneficial, seems outrageous to me anyways. These scientists and groups of followers appear to be looking for a reason to make people become very alarmed and offers them a wrong diversion to focus on to try to prove their point. It causes individuals to panic and they are hooked. This world is upside down in their thinking and the results are made worse because of this information that is iffy.
I have to think that it is just a ploy to take money out of the pockets of the populations of the world. Someone(s) may be getting rich off the backs of those who are gullible. (That is my opinion).
Thanks for writing this article. I am happy to weigh in on this subject as it appears foolish and harmful to the lives of people and the animal kingdom.by these suggestive statements.
Dale,
Wow – what an impactful article! Thank you so much for writing this pertinent and crucial message that is so prolific in our “society” today – and has been since “forever.”
I agree with Cora above – who has so many good points pertaining to this “climate change.”
Fine job, thanks again- I love your articles!
God Bless~
good article
