Humanity is going out and about its daily routine and activities with little or no awareness of God. How much awareness is there that He has a divine agenda that runs alongside the plan of humankind? God is over all of creation. He has made his presence known, particularly at times when people put their eyes on accomplishing great things leaving Him out, or they think they can become like God.
Many things have happened down through history when God has revealed His sovereignty by intervening in the affairs of the human race. God intervened, sending the flood of Noah’s time given in Genesis 7 and 8, because there was so much evil in the world.
He intervened at the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, when humanity thought it could do anything without Him, but God confused their languages so they could not communicate. He rained down fire and brimstone on the city of Sodom because of immorality as recorded in Genesis 19. God spread apart the Red Sea when the Israelites were fleeing from Egyptian bondage as recorded in Exodus 14.
In the first century A.D. God sent his Son, Jesus, supernaturally born of a young teenage virgin, into the world as the world’s Savior, who died on the cross for our sins, but rose from the dead to give victory over death.
These events happened thousands of years ago, but let’s now see what has happened in the previous and current centuries. After being scattered around the world for over 2,ooo years the Jews had a nation to go to. On May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation in one day against all odds, just as Bible prophecy had predicted. Now in a short span of only about 75 years since 1948, Israel has become one of the strongest nations on earth, and has been a blessing to the entire world in science, technology, and medicine.
God has intervened on behalf of Israel with the wars they have fought with their enemies, in ways too numerous to mention, even though they have enemies on every side of them.
In the attempt to divide the land that God gave Israel by divine decree, God has sent disasters upon the United States. Here is one example. In October 1991 President George H.W.Bush attended a meeting in Madrid, Spain, to initiate a peace plan to divide the land of Israel. On the same day, a powerful storm was developing in the North Atlantic Ocean that even the National Weather Service got caught by surprise. “President Bush owns a home along the east coast of Kennebunkport, Maine, that was heavily damaged by the Perfect Storm. Eyewitnesses said that waves as high as 30 feet rose from the ocean and smashed into the president’s seaside home… This storm hit the president’s home the same day he initiated the Madrid peace conference. What awesome timing! An extremely rare and powerful storm developed in the north Atlantic Ocean and went 1000 miles in the wrong direction… The president’s land was touched the day he attempted to touch the covenant land of Israel.”*
The world has witnessed the hand of God in preventing the assassination of President Donald Trump more than once.
At times, God has chosen not to intervene in physical ways, but will frustrate the plans of humanity. Psalm 33:10-11 says, “The Lord brings the council of the nations to nothing. He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The council of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.”
God has a sovereign agenda, and it will be fulfilled, no matter what humanity does, in His own way and His own timing. Bible prophecy says so, history has shown it to be true and God’s intervention in current events is proving it.
With all that has been said, most of the world is living like God does not exist. However, He “Will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, there is peace and security, then sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape” (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3).
Nothing on earth ever catches God by surprise, but He will catch humanity by surprise when He shows up and says, “you thought I didn’t exist, but here I am.”
