How To Make Your First Kiss Meaningful

As sure as day will turn into night, you will have “crushes.” You know, that boy or girl that you have the hots for. Then eventually you’ll go out on dates. Christian teens have feelings too, so don’t be ashamed. God made no mistake when He created us sexual beings. But don’t forget, He also created marriage for expressing sexual gratification. Respect and obedience must be shown.

So…

You have already met the boy/girl who unleashed butterflies in your heart. A hang out date and time was set. On the night of the date, you both had a lovely dinner of pizza topped with the finest condiments. The evening continued at the skating rink where you both had loads of fun skating to awesome music as well as playing laser tag. Now, the date is in its closing and it’s time to say Goodnight. The mood is now set. What’s expected?

Should there be kissing? A peck on the cheek? Or a light kiss on the lips? Should there be any kissing at all?

There isn’t any rule book out there on first kisses, but God has blessed us with moral codes to live by and that’s good enough. Don’t be pressured into believing you must kiss at the end of a first date, or that you must have your first kiss before a certain age. Just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t mean you have to. Your first kiss should be meaningful, and the other person should be well deserving. So let him/her wait!

Here’s how to make your first kiss meaningful:

⦁ Close your eyes!!! lol, just kidding

Real ways to make your first kiss meaningful:

⦁ Pray about it; no prayer is too big or too small for God’s guidance

⦁ Spend quality time getting to know your potential kisser (Hint: you won’t know enough on a first date)

⦁ Meaningful partners produce meaningful kisses; let your first kiss be with someone qualified for future kisses

⦁ Make sure it doesn’t happen in a deserted area because your first kiss can lead to having your first baby

Remember, kissing expresses deep attraction and emotional feelings. Don’t ever view it as being insignificant. Kissing can lead to fornication, which swings the door wide open for the entrance of teenage pregnancy and or contracting an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection). With this in mind, when you do have your first kiss, keep it light and simple. As much as possible, leave deep kissing for your marriage partner. Until then, experience intimacy through holding hands, cuddling, and eye-gazing. “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18)

  3. Amelia,

What a wonderful and inspiring article. Thanks so much for sharing. God bless.

  4. I love this so much! Thanks for posting this. I am 14, and I’ve never really honestly known what to think about that. My parents (who are strong Christians) never taught me it was wrong, so I’ve always felt that it was okay as long as you never went too far.
But, I’ve also heard a lot of people say they are saving their first kiss for their wedding day. I think that it depends on certain people. Some people can be satisfied with a first kiss, others would take it too far. XD I don’t really know about myself yet. But this post was so insightful and Christ-centered! Its nice to hear Christians with a more reasonable view. 🙂 Most of the people I talk to on this subject won’t hear of any affection until engagement. Thank you. ^_^
