This Is…I Love You!

Ephesians 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

This is…I Love You

I love you.
I love you too … She says.
Prove it to the world.
I whisper in her ear … I love you.
Why’d you whisper it to me … She says.
Because you are my world.

My love is more than an act of kindness.
Loving you is not my obligation.
I don’t want to be a martyr.
In loving you, I risked myself.
Risking the pain of rejection.
Not loving you was not an option.

I gave myself up for the one I love.
To set you apart for myself.
You are for my special protection.
For my personal care and affection.
I set you aside for a special purpose.
No one else will get my attention.

I chose you as my beloved.
You are most beautiful to me.
I don’t want to just make you happy.
I desire to bring about your perfection.
To make you beautiful for Christ to see.
Like Christ loves the Church … It’s you I love; It’s me!

Two became One.
Unity in diversity.
Growing together in Christ is our destiny.
Today is the most wonderful of all my days.
For, I am here staring into your gaze.
You are my wife.

I want to know you.
I want to know what you need.
I want to know all about you.
We are heirs together in the grace of life.
I honor you with the life I give.
You are the glory of my life.

I will nourish you.
I will cherish you too.
In the strength that God shall give me.
In the wisdom of my mind He shares with me.
Gently and tenderly, but never severely.
I will bear all with you as we live.

Together we will live.
Together we will love.
With a vision of God always looking above.
Seeking His perfection.
To do only His good pleasure.
To have together His love that will last forever.

Bone of my bones.
Flesh of my flesh.
My second self.
My constant help.
The one who God-made with special graces.
And nothing will change that.

For this is…I love you!
I’ll whisper it loud.
Alone or in a crowd.
You are my world.
So, my love, I’ll live a godly life proving all my life.
That this is…I love you!
