I Will Stand

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.”(Galatians 5:1)

I Will Stand

When the waves of my ocean are so raging,
Crashing against my bow,
I will not question how.
I will stand!
When the fish in my sea all want to swallow me,
Pressing me on every side,
I will not sink with pride.
I will stand!

I will stand even when everyone else is kneeling.
When everyone else is acting on a feeling,
I will stand!
When hate’s temperature is dangerously rising,
And when Lady Liberty’s freedoms keep fading,
I will not stand down!
I will stand strong and faithful somehow…For,
Many died that we might keep standing.
So, I will stand!

When they tell me the Giants are too big in the Land.
You can’t for bigotry take a stand…many say.
I will still stand!
When the Eagles are flying so high and free,
But they won’t stand in unity with me,
I will stand alone if need be!
When the Forty-Niners seem to need a reminder,
Of our Heavenly Father…their Provider,
I will stand to try and atone!

I will keep standing even if everyone else is kneeling.
As long as that Banner yet waves, I’ll keep praying…
For sweet Liberty,
For Unity in Diversity,
And for every Race and Creed,
To stand as one in this great Land as the Just and Free.
There are two Banners for which I stand.
I’ll stand for Old Glory as long as she is still there,
And I’ll stand for God’s Banner of Love,
For it is by His Son’s name that any of us has a prayer to stand!

Unless we all stand together,
Unless only the truth is what matters,
Unless every Hacker, Rapper, and Pastor,
And unless every man, woman, and child no matter the color,
There will be no changing of the hearts.
For, that is where standing free really starts.
Only God through Christ can heal this Land.
From the beginning, He’s been working His saving plan.
It was for this Just cause that He came down to us as a man…

That in Christ together we might all freely stand!

For the Love of my God,
For the Love of my Family,
For the Love of my Countrymen,
For the Love of my Country for which I stand,
For the Love of my Christ who makes us to stand,
I will stand!
What else can I do…BUT FALL!

Ron C. Kyker,

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”  (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Shall we all stand united together as one to soar on wings like Eagles or will we stand apart crashing down to the ground and to the end of God’s grace towards America that was once so sweet to the sound!

  1. What a very well thought poem. Standing can be a great way to show appreciation, both physically and in spirit.

  2. As the hymn says, “Beneath the cross of Jesus I gladly take my stand.” Thank you, Ron, for this wonderful poem. The ways things are going in our culture, we sure need to take a stand more than ever before.
