A Poem Of Healing And Shelter

The Balm in Gilead

When shadows fall and hearts grow weak,
When pain and fear no comfort seek,
There walks a Man with hands outstretched,
Whose voice calms storms and souls refreshed.

He touched the leper, blind, and lame,
And whispered life in mercy’s name.
By stripes He bore, we find release,
In Him, our healing, hope, and peace.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities…” — Isaiah 53:5

He walked through towns with healing grace,
Each tear He saw, each anguished face.
No soul too lost, no wound too deep,
For Christ, the Shepherd, guards His sheep.

When demons shrieked and darkness reigned,
He spoke, and light and peace remained.
His Word still speaks through time and space,
A refuge sure, a throne of grace.

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages… healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” — Matthew 9:35

He is the Rock when tempests rise,
A shield beneath the weeping skies.
No evil dares to overtake
The soul that trusts for Jesus’ sake.

So come, ye weary, bruised, and torn,
To Christ, the Lamb, the One who mourns
With those who suffer, sigh, and bleed—
He is the answer, all we need.

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” — Psalm 107:20

A Prayer of Healing and Shelter

“LORD-You are the Healer of hearts and the Keeper of souls. When we are broken, You bind us. When we are afraid, You cover us. Thank You for Your wounds that became our healing, for Your presence that never leaves us alone. Wrap us in Your mercy today. Let Your peace be our portion, and Your love our light. In Your Jesus name, Amen.”

Scripture Reflection

Jesus’ healing is not only for the body—it is for the soul, the mind, the memory, and the heart. His protection is not merely from danger, but from despair. In Him, we are not only made whole—we are made new. Let us not seek healing apart from the Healer, nor peace apart from the Prince of Peace.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…” — Isaiah 41:10

“The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.” — Psalm 41:3
