The Warrior’s Friend

With heavy tired sigh, the warrior lay down his sword.
The romance of war was gone. His spirit, tired and worn.

For many years, he’d toiled and fought valiantly in the fray.
Held his sword and banner high, but today was not that day.

Now to his knees he fell. His strength was all but spent.
The enemy lines drew near. His doom was eminent.

A wicked one approached with cruel and fiery blade.
But to the warrior’s surprise, the mighty blow was stayed.

For there to shield the Devil’s blow stood his Faithful friend.
His shield held high, and sword engaged- his brother to defend.

“Arise,” he cried, “Pick up your sword. Brother, I shall not let you fail.”
“Take courage now. My strength I’ll share. Together we must prevail.”

Then deep within the warrior’s breast the dimmed passion did ignite.
He drew a breath, rose from his knees, and gave a warrior’s cry.

“On for truth! On for faith! On to set men free!”
Then side by side they dispelled the foe-the day a victory.

*Dedicated to the “Faithfuls” in our lives whose encouragement gives us strength to stand.

Proverbs 27:17Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

Hebrews 3:13– “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11– “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
