Going Around the Block…Again

With ease, I pulled out of the intersection passing lookers by trying to decide which way to turn next.  Was it right?  Left?  Or simply straight ahead?  Grabbing the map, I traced my finger along the path that I had already traveled leading me to my current location.  A quick glance in my rearview mirror told me I had already passed this scenery more than once. It was time to move on from this place and head to my true destination. Have you ever felt lost?  You know, the kind where you feel you’re suppose to be somewhere, but you just don’t know how to get there and your current location is leaving you empty and meaningless?  It’s almost like the map is in front of you, but you don’t know which way will lead you to the right location? Maybe you ventured down the road of materialism and self-satisfaction seeking everything your heart desires of money and things trying to fill yourself with contentment, but the greater the toy, so grew the hole in your heart. Maybe you tried the path of New Age, one that promised peace and tranquility, but left you stressed out because you couldn’t meditate your mind into the right state. Maybe you tried the path of religion appeasing and adhering to the rules of religiosity, but the guilt and hypocrisies became annoying and distasteful in your mouth, so you quickly fled avoiding those who tried to speak truth in your life. With all of the roads you have traveled, your heart has become calloused and bruised leaving you with only two options: “There is a God who doesn’t care about me” or “There is no God.” But, “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1) Yet regardless of your attitude or whether you believe in Him or not God knows your exact location.  He installed the GPS locator in your heart and He created your inmost being and knit you together in your mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13). Take a glance in the rearview mirror and recall the ways you have sought to find contentment?  Has even one satisfied you completely? From one driver to another, I have traveled past the same block and it will never change.  Your heart will never be satisfied with the things of this world.  Period.  You may delude your mind into thinking you are happy, but when the lights are off and you are sitting in silence, there is no denying the loneliness that you feel inside.   But that is not God’s desire!  He wants to fill you with a joy that is everlasting, a life that is eternal, one that is worth sacrificing everything you have. So, what holds you back from finding true joy and satisfaction?  He loves you no matter what you have done, what choices you have made, or your refusal to accept that He exists.  God is not a religion! He is real and He loves you more than you can imagine.  Just say yes.

  1. Renee, I really like the way you pulled this topic together. Important message well presented. I, too, have too many deja veu images.

  2. Renee, thank God for your writing style. You cause people to think and meditate on God’s word when it is applied to your articles. ‘A word well spoken at the right time is like golden apples’ or something like that!

  3. Good message–I’ve certainly been there! This will encourage those who are searching!
